The top reasons for this error are permissions or htaccess error.
If your permissions were changed to 000, please email security@hostgator.com and an administrator will help resolve this. Only a security admin can fix this, as it is likely an abuse issue. .htaccess Please check the cpanel Error Logs for the exact cause of the error. If you see an error that says "Options ExecCGI is off in this directory" or "Options FollowSymLinks off", then be sure the .htaccess file code is correct. In the file be sure all Options are preceeded with a + or - sign. e.g. Options +ExecCGI -Multiviews e.g. Options +Indexes +FollowSymLinks +Includes If you see "client denied by server configuration" then this usually means bad permissions, but could also mean that the person is trying to look at a file that is never allowed, like .htaccess file. You cannot look at that file in your browser. e.g. http://domain.com/.htaccess will always be 403 Other possibilities The account may have IP Deny rules. check in cpanel and make sure the customer is not blocking their own connecting IP. The customer may have changed the Index Manager to No Indexing. This will cause a 403 error if their is no correct index page to load. The error could be caused by our mod_security rules. Please contact us for further help.
